Art of Perception - Helping Young People Change the Perception of their Future
Art of Perception is a newly established New York based organization that will provide one-on-one mentoring to teenagers between the ages of 13-17 that are interested in pursuing a career in media. We offer guidance and mentoring as the mentees write, produce and direct mini documentaries that display their talent in storytelling, producing, editing and administration. Our mission is to use various media tools to educate, elevate and empower young boys and girls.
We're soliciting the support of NYC media professionals in assisting with this project. The goal is to identify and provide mentoring to a minimum of six teens twice per year. We’re asking media professionals to sponsor/mentor at least one teen per mentoring session. Mentorship may include assisting with script writing, video capture, editing, providing resources for youth to record voiceovers for their projects and offer career advice.
Our youth face so many challenges and it often seems as if we are in a society that places our children on the back burner of life. Budget cuts now threaten the livelihood of educators across New York City; which ultimately affects children and their academic future. We may not be able to do anything about the budget cuts to education; however, your commitment to mentor a young person just a few hours a week can forever impact the life of that youngster. Our children need you! They have a story to tell and we're inviting you to join our plight in helping a child ignite their creativity, develop their true potential and empower them to succeed.
The average teenager spends 7 hours and 38 minutes using entertainment media across a typical day, which is actually more than 53 hours per week. Just a fraction of that time could be spent teaching children how to write their own programming. Your commitment to mentor a young person could positively change the perception of their future. Help us make a difference in the life of a child.
Program details may be found on our company website.
